High on the Changthang plateau the Changthangi goat grows the world's finest undercoat. Gathered each spring, it is hand-spun on the yinder, woven on wooden looms and embroidered in Sozni and Tilla.
The craft
The fibre is too fine for machines. It is hand-carded and spun, often by women in artisan households, then woven in silence — warp by weft — by weavers who let their hands tell the story.
A true Pashmina is not only worn. It is kept, gifted and cherished — an heirloom passed from generation to generation. No two are ever the same.
