From Kashmir to the United Kingdom

Kashmiri silk carpets & Pashmina in the United Kingdom

Britain has collected Kashmir shawls and carpets since the eighteenth century — the paisley itself took its name from a Scottish mill town that copied them. Our British clients are collectors and connoisseurs of that history, and we offer them the original: made in Kashmir, by hand, with its GI certification.

Consultation in your time zone

We hold private video consultations from mid-morning to early evening UK time, in natural daylight at the atelier so that silk shows its true colour. You see each piece turned in the light, the back of every carpet, and the knots counted on camera.

For a significant commission we can also discuss a viewing at your residence or with your designer.

For period and country houses

Georgian and Victorian rooms were built for carpets like these. A Kashan or Tabriz medallion in madder red sits naturally on oak boards beneath a chimneypiece; a silk runner suits a long hall or landing; a pictorial silk hangs where a painting might. For a modern London flat, the tonal Khursaam and bespoke palettes bring the craft without the colour.

Delivery to the United Kingdom

Every piece is packed by hand at the atelier — carpets rolled around a core in breathable cloth, papier-mâché and copper cushioned in fitted cartons — and sent door-to-door by insured international courier with tracking.

Import duties and local taxes vary by country and are set by your customs authority; we tell you what to expect before you confirm, and prepare every document your customs office needs, including the GI certification for carpets and Pashmina.

Pashmina with provenance

Britain is the historic market for the Kashmir shawl and the most discerning. Every Pashmina we send carries its GI certification; every embroidered shawl comes with the name of its technique — Sozni, Tilla, Kani — and the months it took.
