Hazaar Posh
Hazaar Posh means a thousand flowers, and the name is barely an exaggeration. The naqash covers every surface with blossoms — roses, tulips, irises, lilies — so closely packed that the ground colour disappears, each flower drawn with a brush of a few hairs.
The most demanding design
Because every flower is painted individually, Hazaar Posh takes many times longer than a bordered design of the same size, and its quality is judged by the fineness of the smallest blooms. Fine Hazara, its most detailed form, uses flowers only a few millimetres across.
Where it is used
The design suits objects that are handled and looked at closely — powder boxes, letter racks, wall plates, small chests of drawers — and larger pieces that want to be a focal point of colour in a room.
